A great Silver Sneakers class for those new to fitness or those who desire a more gentle approach to training. This 5 week class will help you move through your day with more strength and stamina. Feb. 26 is a FREE trial class. Other class dates: 3/5, 3/12, 3/19 & 3/26.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength and range of motion to help with the activities of daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a small ball are offered for resistance. A chair may be used for seated exercises and standing support. This class is easily modified for students to match their fitness level and ability.
What to bring to class: water, towel, mat, sturdy but comfortable shoes.
Fitness Level: Intended for beginning to intermediate skill levels. This class is intended for seniors or anyone who hasn’t worked out in a while and would like a non-intimidating environment. All mobility levels are welcome.
Students are required to have medical clearance from their caregiver before registering for fitness classes at the JCC.
About the instructor: Martha has been active in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years as both a participant and instructor. She is a recent transplant to the Triangle and is enjoying everything the area has to offer. Martha’s philosophy is “It’s Never Too Late to Get in Shape” and strives for sustaining a healthy lifestyle balance. She is also a road cyclist, an occasional triathlete and Masters level Swimmer. Certifications include: Silver Sneakers, ACE Senior Fitness Specialist, IFTA Aqua Fitness, Spinning® Cycle Instructor, ACE Personal Training, and AFAA Group Exercise. Expect to have fun and feel strong!
